Research Assistants
Frances Abygail F. Genio, RCh.
Position: University Research Assistant I / Graduate Student Project: Amino Acid-Based Bis-Urea Compounds as Viscosifier for Surfactants Research Interests: Organic Synthesis, Material Sciences, Supramolecular Chemistry, Rheology Outside of research, I spend my time taking care of my indoor plants, dyeing my own or a friend's hair, watching gaming streams or listening to SCP readings. A relaxing day off for me consists of listening to pop music while drawing fan arts either on traditional or digital media. During long vacations, I prefer travelling with my family or friends and go to anywhere near a waterscape, like beaches or falls. |
Kyra Danielle C. Magdato, RCh.
Position: Science Research Specialist II / Graduate Student Project: Low Molecular Weight Urea-Based Molecules as Structurants for Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic Systems Research Interests: Synthesis of Low Molecular Weight Bis-Urea Rheology Modifiers I love food, travel, and history. I enjoy watching food, travel, and historical documentaries as well as football games. Practicing yoga is also something I do to unwind and keep myself active. |
Rajelle D. Hernandez, RCh.
Position: Science Research Specialist II / Graduate Student Project: Synthesis of Deguelin, Rotenone and Small Molecules Derivatives as Anticancer Agents Research Interests: Structural modification of natural products for drug discovery Whenever I feel overwhelmed with science, digital arts and crafting have always been my go to activity. I took interest in arts and crafts because it makes me feel like I'm still being productive while taking time off from research work and deadlines. I also love creating my own stickers using my drawings. |
John Alfon P. Francisco, RCh.
Position: Science Research Specialist II / Graduate Student Project: Synthesis of Deguelin, Rotenone and Small Molecules Derivatives as Anticancer Agents Research Interests: Organic Synthesis, Medicinal Chemistry I really enjoy playing video games, especially those team-based and mission-oriented games. I like photo-editing, video-editing, and various computer-related operations. I also love outdoor activities like mountain climbing and outdoor camping since it helps me connect with nature. Also because it helps me bond with my pals, family and other people. |
Jeremiah Gabriel G. Africa, RCh.
Position: Science Research Specialist II Project: Rational Design and Structural Modification of ACE2 Inhibitors from Terrestrial Plants Research Interest: Medicinal Chemistry, Asymmetric Synthesis, Computational Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry When not in the lab, you can either find me stuck at home watching Netflix or out hanging out with my friends --- no in-between. I also sing, play various musical instruments, and play sports such as basketball. I am also fond of the performing arts especially theater. |
Miguel Angel P. Juan, RCh.
Position: University Research Assistant Project: Visible Light-Driven Photodimerization of Anthracene-Appended Polymer Tethered with Electron-rich Triazole Toward Single Chain Nanoparticles Research Interest: Organic Synthesis, Polymer Synthesis, Medicinal Chemistry I consider myself to be more of an indoor person with my free time mostly being spent on gaming, watching series, listening to music, and sleeping. Aside from chemistry, I have an interest for topics related to medicine and history. I also really love animals (especially dogs!) and I have a really soft spot for them. |
Graduate Students
Mark Jeffrey S. Diaz, RCh.
Project: Photo-Dimerization of Anthracene-Functionalized Linear Polymers Research Interests: Most of the things that currently interest me are results of watching Netflix and YouTube videos. I find myself spending hours getting thrilled by crime documentaries, and entertained by period dramas and baking shows. When these things start to wear me out, I seek relaxation by discovering new music and replaying old favorites. Should the world give its permission, it would be exciting to go back to hiking, and be re-magnetized by the scenic far-flung islands and beaches of the Philippines. |
